If you don't want to continue in full time education look for an apprenticeship, there are plenty of options for 16 year olds including:

• The Forces - Army, Navy and Airforce -all of these have fantastic schemes that give you the chance to try out different career options. They include good salaries, subsidised food and accommodation as well as many other benefits. You don't commit to a long term career in the Forces until you over 18.
• Look at local apprenticeship options both on the government website and on Indeed. There are lots of opportunities open to 16yr olds and above. These include Childcare, Retail, Sports Coach, Teaching Assistant, Engineering
• Some of the jobs will say that the apprenticeship lasts for 2, 3 or 4 years – and that might seem like a long time at the moment– you don’t have to stay that long – like any job there is a notice period.
• Be proactive – if you can’t find an advertised job that you want, think about the businesses you’d like to work for and send your CV with a covering letter explaining your situation and asking if they would consider taking you on as an apprentice. Employers like people who show initiative.
