Wessex Archaeology
We are looking for apprentices to join our experienced fieldwork team and are confident that we can offer you a challenging and rewarding role, with excellent scope for developing your knowledge and understanding of the archaeological process. We are looking for people who share our core values and want to join an organisation which believes that everyone should be safe, respected and valued.
This apprenticeship will provide you with an excellent opportunity to gain an understanding of fieldwork archaeology, and to gain key practical and creative skills in a commercial environment. This will provide you with access to some of the most exciting archaeological sites in the UK and give you a solid foundation in field archaeology. The transferrable skills that you develop will give you the chance to progress into a diverse range of roles and will prepare you for future employment.
The apprenticeship we offer is the L3 Archaeologist Technician
(NB. You can take a Level 3 apprenticeship even if you already have A Levels or other Level 3 qualifications)
We also take on newly qualified graduates.

More information
We have plans to increase the number and range of apprenticeships we offer in the future. We also offer Work Placements and Volunteering opportunities.
Training is normally online and will be conducted one day per week.
We expect to take on 1 or 2 apprentices each year at the moment. The timing of opportunities depends on our project requirements and the training providers schedule.
We are on our first year of apprentices and will share regular blogs online as they become more established.
We aim to provide an in-road to the industry. Apprentices will start their careers with Wessex, however there are many opportunities to move onto in other archaeological organisations and archaeology is a varied subject and the skills and experiences learnt are very transferable.
